Mike Richardson

Mike Richardson registered webuser.com in 1996 and has helped build the web through every era since — dial-up to broadband, desktop to phone, search to AI. A former engineer and pilot turned serial technologist, he joined Electronic Arts in 1996 and built its first European datacenter, its consumer platforms, and the online games, ecommerce, and in-game economies and governance that ran on them. An EA and Capgemini alum who has advised governments and industry across many sectors, today he builds worlds — continuing the work that started with Ultima Online — and is an authority on digital-native ways of working, AI included. He writes here about getting the most from the internet, and not getting caught out, because after thirty years he's still sure the difference is people.
